Rainey Amphitheater
The Amphitheater was built during the Great Depression through a federal relief program that gave work to the unemployed. It was located in the “Forest of Arden,” on the northwest corner of campus, which was home to May Day celebrations for almost a century. These elaborate, student-orchestrated community events drew crowds of alumnae and locals that averaged 3,000 at their peak. The newly-renovated Rainey Amphitheatre features a brick backdrop and awning made from reclaimed materials from Clifton Glendale Mill.
